xanga

man, sometimes I forget about this thing. But then again, it's always easy to catch up because 5 people post on this thing... mad props to girl kris, meagan, jason, mer, and david crowder. Thanks for your posts. Sorry about mine.

Summer was crazy! Lots of camps, and just activities for the youth. It was really fun, but I am glad it's time to relax. The annual Branson Family Trip is coming up soon. That will be great fun. There's nothing like catching some corny shows and hanging out with old people. Let me break down a branson show for you real quick....here's how they all will look.

1. Start with songs you know

2. Play some songs they wrote

3. Play a few more you know

4. Play some Gospel

5. And finally end with a patriotic number (guaranteing a standing ovation)

I can't wait though.

Started a diet 2 days ago. It's going well so far, but it always is going well after 2 days. I hope I can stay on it. I need to shed some pounds. I gained some after marriage and it hasn't gone away. And then I will work on those pounds I gained in college. Wow, there's a long road to ho. I tried to get our church office to go on a biggest loser competition after being inspired by mer and her work place. The only reason I am calling her mer is cause I can't remember how to spell her whole name...meridith, meradath, meridath, meruduth....or none of the above, anyways. But they said that we couldn't do it. They didn't want to. FATTIES! So now I am just going to play by myself. On the bright side, it is a guaranteed victory.

We have started a new service at our church called UNFILTERED, yep, jacked the name. Good ol first church. Those were the days. It is for young adults and old adults who like DCB*, Jeremy Camp, Hillsong United, and the like. If you guys ever want to travel up, you are more than welcome to. I get to lead worhsip and we have a different speaker every time. We do it once a month and the next one is this Friday night at 8:00. Someone needs to take a road trip don't you. You can stay at our house if you want to. Tulsa isn't that far from you guys! An hour and 45 for most and 2.45 for the others. Come on. Then you can hang in Tulsa. Spend a weekend on vaction. You know you want to!

alright, i'm out. God bless you guys as you faithfully serve the Lord!

Seriously not a lot going on in my world. The same ol same ol. I got my new toys I mentioned in the last post. I am having a blast with them.

Got to lead worship last night at the TU BSU. It was great. It made me really miss college and stuff. I think I would do it over again if God gave me a "ground hog day" experience. Tam said the same thing.

NOT!!! Going to the Collide Festival in a couple of weeks. Check that out to see what I'm talking about.

Also going to Falls Creek in July with the kiddos!

Busy summer!

Happy memorial day weekend!

BIRTHDAY!!!

Welp, the ol 26th b-day is just around the corner...tomorrow... and I got some new toys!

I decided with all the music I've been playing lately that it was time for an electric guitar. Now this is quite an expensive little deal here but the Lord blessed me with some good stuff for not that bad a price. And he blessed me with some parents and grandparents that gave me money. So I didn't have to spend to much! Take a look at what I got!

Black

This is an epiphone Les Paul. It goes for a wopping 399 at guitar center but I found it second hand for 309 with shipping from Indiana. It is second hand but the blemish cannot be found. Plus I have a guarantee. But hey, I could crap in a box and slap a guarantee on it, but does that make it better!

Here is something else that I got!

Right-facing

This is a vox valvetronix amp that goes for $1,199 at guitar center but I found a used one at guitar center for 500 bucks on clearance. I know... but it comes with a guarantee!! And I listened to it, it sounds GREAT!

Welp, now I'm in search for this...

(main)

This is the footswitch for the amp.... new it runs $280. Used... I don't know. So if you see one used somewhere or know anyone that is giving theirs away.... let me know. I have to save up a little more before I can get this. But for some reason, NONE of the vox amps that are the upper valvetronix come with the footswitch. STUPID!

Anyways, great birthday. God is good. CAN'T WAIT TO PLAY WITH MY NEW TOYS!!!

recording

welp, I spent the weekend in good ol weatherford getting some recording done for a promo CD that we are going to be handing out to area youth pastors and what not. So far it was sounding pretty darn good. They are just cover songs so we won't be selling them, but if you ask nicely I might just give you one! Even if you don't ask nicely, I'll still probably give you one....

It should be out within a week or so. I'll keep you posted. You'll be able to hear it on www.myspace.com/jacobtosrael

haha, this is funny.

Well, our band "jacob to israel" decided to cover a phil wickham song entitled "always forever" and we recorded it live. Then we put it on our myspace. I thought this was neat and wanted Phil to hear it himself. So this is what I wrote....

Phil,

I decided our band should add your song, "Always Forever", to our play list. It was an immediate success. People that had never heard of you before are buying your CD because of your passionate lyrics. I plug your album hard core. It's the best worship album I own.

You can hear our attempt at www.myspace.com/jacobtoisrael

It was recorded live at a church we played for in Oklahoma City. I tuned it down as well seeing how I don't have the tenor skills you possess.

God Bless you sir.

Gregg

P.S. Do you even read these or do you have like

And here is his...err...someones reply 2 months later.........

Hi Gregg,

Sorry it has taken so long to respond. Phil is presently working on his next CD.

As far as recording any of Phil's songs, you'll need to contact the good people who handle his publishing at http://www.simpleville.net/ to obtain a license/permission.

God bless you Gregg - and God bless your ministry.

-Phil's myspace assistant

Bummer.....
